The Johnson County Park and Recreation District (JCPRD) is requesting sealed proposals from licensed, qualified, and experienced Contractors to provide Native Planting and Restoration services for various park improvement projects and park properties throughout Johnson County, Kansas. The work involves prairie restoration, wetland plantings, woodland restoration, and maintenance for these plantings. This RFP will be utilized to select subcontractor(s) providing the wetland restoration and forebay plantings for the Heritage Park Lake Water Quality and Habitat Improvements (HP Lake Dredging) project with wetland and restoration planting to occur in 2024. The selected contractor(s) will also become IDIQ term and supply contractors for future projects.

Detail indicated tree guards are to be installed. Due to growth form of shrub species selected tree guard installation will not be possible. Please confirm that this is acceptable.

Response from the Engineer: "We are accepting of no tree-guards for this. Anything taller than 6-feet we do want to see a guard and staking on the trees so they don’t pull out, however we should not have 6-foot trees being planted with the species that are specified."

Shrub quantity on sheet 13 indicated 50 3 gallon shrubs, but shrub quantity on sheet 137 overstory and 410 understory plantings. Please confirm quantity of shrubs desired.

Response from Engineer "There are 1,800 wetland plugs (300 grasses, 300 sedges, 300 rushes, 900 forbs) and 50 wetland plantings that are more tree/shrub species. The 137 overstory and 410 understory are incorrect."
