This bid includes the following Work:
Selected paving improvements to include asphalt, concrete and associated equipment and appurtenances.
Copies of plans and/or specifications are available through IonWave or can be seen and purchased for a Non-Refundable fee online at www.drexteltech.com in their eDistribution plan room; additional assistance is available at distribution@drexeltech.com. Information regarding this Project can be found in the “Public Jobs” link on the website. Contractors desiring the Contract Documents for use in preparing bids may also obtain a set of such documents from Drexel Technologies; 10840 West 86th Street, Lenexa, KS 66214, telephone number is 913-371-4430. Bidding documents will be shipped only if the requesting party assumes responsibility for all related charges. Corporate, certified, or cashier’s checks shall be made payable to Drexel Technologies, Inc.

Bid Questions
Question Can you clarify the traffic control and signage line item? Per the specification, we are to include mobilization, demobilization, temporary facilities, etc. However, the Units are provided in Square Feet. Can that line item be changed to a per case (EA) unit? Or scaled based on project size?
Answer

Traffic controls is a difficult line item. The County recognizes the potential need for traffic control signage and barricades and each project will have different complexities. The recommendation is to calculate $1.00 per SF. The amount of SF can be adjusted to a present a “reasonable price” for the traffic control for the project. Work with the County’s Representative to determine for each project.


Example Scenario: 8,000 SF of 4” concrete replacement: You need 15 cones and caution tape for traffic control that will need to be moved as the project progresses.


8,000 X $1.00 = $8,000 is not a reasonable cost for traffic control. We recommend that the square footage amount be adjusted to “make sense” for the project. If you only to manage 15 cones, reduce the SF for a reasonable price. 500 SF X $1.00 = $500 or as appropriate. If the amount is not aggregable with the County’s Representative, the project will not be approved.
