Notes
Johnson County, Kansas is requesting bids for groundskeeping services for several Johnson County agencies. Work shall include providing esthetically pleasing grounds, mowing, snow removal, turf maintenance, and landscaping that meets industry best practices. Contractor(s) shall include all materials, equipment, labor, and services necessary to perform full-service groundskeeping and landscape work.


Groundskeeping services requested will be divided into three (3) categories based on the type of service needed and specific locations. These categories include (1) Mowing, (2) Mowing and Landscaping, and (3) Snow and Ice Removal.


A non-mandatory pre-bid conference will be held virtually on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 9:00 AM Central Time via Zoom. Attendance at the pre-bid conference is optional and participation shall have no bearing on eligibility to submit a bid in response to this IFB. The Zoom meeting link is provided in the bid Activities tab and can be found in the IFB.


All bids must be submitted through Johnson County's electronic bidding system, IonWave.

Question
In the IFB you state "Salt & Sand." Do you require a mixture for all surfaces or who would just salt be acceptable?
Answer In Section 5.6. of the IFB, the terms “salt/sand” and “sand” shall be replaced with “salt deicer” only. Sand need not be applied to surfaces for general ice and snow treatment. See Amendment No. 1., Section 1 Changes, subsection e.

Question
Do you have a required snow plow depth before the contractor is to start plowing?
Answer See Section 5.6.H. for snow removal requirements which states, "The Contractor shall furnish all equipment and labor to remove snow from sidewalks and drives when there is at least one inch of measurable snowfall on the parking surface."

Question
What is your Mulch color requirement? Black, Brown or Other?
Answer Mulch shall be double ground brown at Facilities and Libraries locations. At other locations, brown mulch shall be used. See Addendum No. 1, Section 1. Changes, subsection b. for this description.
