Question
**The bridge specification seems to combine Elastomeric and Teflon/Stainless Steel bearing types.
Please confirm if the bearing type may be Teflon/Stainless Steel based on the bridge manufacturer's design.

**The vehicle plan sheet 13 shows the deck elevation on one side at 890.92 and the other side at 890.60
The bridge spec says the bridge abutments shall be constructed at the same elevation.
Please confirm which is correct.

Also listed is the 100 year WSE upstream =897.51.
Please confirm the design highwater elevation at the bridge, the design velocity thru structure (fps), the debris load and ice load.

Thank you.
Answer
1. Bearing type may be per bridge manufacturer's design

2. The elevations provided on sheet 13 are correct. The bridge will be installed by others. The bridge should be constructed assuming the abutments are the same elevation.

3. The 100-year elevation has been revised to 898.48 due to recent updates to the flood plain model in the area. The velocity of the stream is 3.5 fps. The bridge manufacturer shall incorporate in their design a debris load as required by current AASHTO design criteria. Ice loads do not need to be considered.

Thank you!

Question
Plan sheet 16 calls for the bridge to be a vehicular bridge.
The bridge specification calls for the bridge to be a pedestrian bridge. We would like to submit a quote based on our bridge design that would also include our estimated reactions and bearing requirements. Our bridge would be designed to a pedestrian live load of 90 pounds and an H-10 vehicle load. Is that acceptable?
Thank you.
Answer
Yes, that is per plans and specifications. The bridge is labeled vehicular on the detail sheet because it is H-10 rated.

Thank you
