Project Description

The gateway project at the intersection of 11th & Mississippi streets in Lawrence involves a phased renovation, demolition and rebuild of the north gateway to the University of Kansas campus. The goal of the project is to provide new and enhanced spaces to 1) drive student recruitment, 2) host conferences and events throughout the year that spur economic development and enhance the quality of life in Lawrence, and 3) upgrade Kansas Football facilities for student-athletes and gameday guests.

The new north gateway will include a new multi-purpose venue that will be built to host activities and conferences throughout the year, as well as a new entry plaza. This part of campus currently includes David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium and the Anderson Family Football Complex, which houses Kansas Football’s operations. This project will provide renovations and additions to both of these facilities, while allowing football events to occur as scheduled in the 2023, 2024 and 2025 seasons.

This phase of the project is to complete all work that enables us to begin demolition of the corner of campus while keeping all utilities in service for events and daily operations. This consists of site water, gas, electrical, telecom and relocation of electrical & IPF cross connect rooms with associated architectural and system requirements.
